European XFEL is an international non-profit company located in the Hamburg area in Germany. It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. The diverse scientific facilities at European XFEL enable scientists from across the globe to carry out a wide range of experimental techniques.
For our MID group we are looking for an
Industrial or precision mechanic (f/m/d) Industriemechaniker oder Feinwerkmechaniker (f/m/d)
The position
- Assembly and installation of setups as preparation for scientific experiments
- Manufacturing and installation of precision mechanics
- Assembly work on vacuum equipment
- Take part in maintenance tasks of the MID experimental setup
- Organization and operation of the MID laboratory

Requirements
- Certified industrial mechanic or precision mechanic (Industriemechaniker/Feinwerkmechaniker) or equivalent qualification
- Practical experience with machining (turning and milling)
- Practical skills with installation and operation of precision mechanics
- Willingness to learn about vacuum equipment and working in clean environment
- Craning experience, basic CAD knowledge and pneumatic skills are considered as assets
- Good communication skills in English speaking, reading, and writing
- Previous working experience in research and development or in a scientific environment is beneficial
